Open Rate Matrix Section of the Rate Wizard
To navigate to the Rate Matrix section of the Rate Wizard please do the following:
Click on the File Menu located in the top left handside of IDS Core.
Then select “Rate Wizard”
When the Rate Wizard opens, click on Price Matrix
You will see something like this
At this point, its a good idea to use the zoom located on the bottom of the tab
And the “Resize” mouse over by placing your mouse over the bottom right hand side of the screen
To adjust the tab to best suit your needs.

How to Unlock the Rate Wizard
To unlock the rate wizard so you can edit, please do the following:
Click the 'Unlock” button
A Unlock Pop Up will appear, click on “yes”
You will now see the following message
How to Lock the Rate Wizard
To lock the rate wizard when you have finished editing your rates, please do the following:
Click the “Lock” button located on the top of the screen
You will now see the following message
How to create/edit a Rate using Rate by Fixed price
To create a new rate rate using the rate by fixed price, please do the following:
Ensure that “Rate by fixed pricing” has been selected
The next step is to select the Package Type and Service Level you wish to create
If you have not already created your Service Levels, please click here: Service Levels
If you have not already created your Package Types, please click here: Package Types
To do this, first select the Package Type from the first dropdown (please note because Package Type are defined and created by your company, your dropdown will display different Package Type )
Then select the package type from the second dropdown. (please note because Service Levels are defined and created by your company, your dropdown will display different Service Levels)
Before starting to enter in rates, its best to explain how to read the Rate Matrix
If you have not already created your zones, please click here: Zone Wizard
You will see your Zones across the top and along the left hand side of the screen. (please note because Zones are defined and created by your company, your matrix will display different Zones)
You will noticed that the Zones across the top are the same zones that are along the left hand side of the matrix.
To enter in a rate select the “From” zone on the left hand side and the “To” zone from the top
Using the example above, if you want to enter in a rate “From” Vancouver (outlined in green in image below) “to” Surrey (outlined in blue in image below) you will select the cell highlighted in red.
To enter a rate into the selected cell, double click the cell. The cell will change to Yellow.
Then type in your rate
Continue this one with each cell.
Some Trip and Tricks.
You can use Microsoft Copy and Paste Hot keys. To do this:
double click into a cell that contains the price you which to copy
Then press “Ctrl” and “a” to highlight the entire rate
Then press “Ctrl” and “c” to copy the highlighted rated
Now click into the cell you wish to paste the rate into
Now press “Ctrl” and “v” to paste the rate into the cell
Continue to paste the copied rate into as many fields as need.
You can initialize the cells to a rate. The is helpful when all your rates are the same OR most of the cells continue the same rate. To do this:
Ensure “Initialize values to:$” has been selected
In the field beside “Initialize values to: $”, type the value you wish to have entered into all the fields
Then click “Modify Values”
You will now see the rate will appear in all the cells of the Rate Matrix
13. When you have completed making all your changes, click the “save” button located on the bottom of the matrix.
14. Then lock the rate wizard by click on the unlock button
How to create/edit a Rate using Rate by Lane pricing
To edit/create a Lane rate, please do the following:
Click the Radial Dial labelled “Rate by lane pricing”
At the bottom on the screen you will see the following
Click on Edit
This will open the “Edit Formula” Pop Up
Now we need to create our first condition.
To do this, in the first dropdown, select if the condition will be based on pieces, weight or mileage
Then select if the condition will be greater than, less then, etc
Then enter in the condition's amount. Meaning if “pieces is less than 5”, then enter in 5
(Advanced - Optional) If you need to add on more to the condition, then click on the dropdown immediately to the right.
And select And/Or. Then create another condition.
Steps 9 and 10 above are Advanced Optional steps. You dont need to do this unless you have an advanced rate.
In the “Results” field enter in the dollar amount for this rate. Using our example from above of “if pieces is less than 5 then the price is $5”, then you would enter in 5 into this field.
If the rate is not a “Fixed price”, but something more advanced, then click on the radial dial beside “Formula”
This will change the field so that you can create a formula
The first field would be where you would enter in a base price
In the next field, select what field will be used to calculate the rate
If you select one of the fields with a + or - beside it, then another field will open directly to the right of this dropdown. In this field enter in the amount you wish to add or subject from the selected field. For example if your rate is “Piece - 1”, then you would enter in “1” into this field.
Then select your mathematical symbol in the next dropdown. For example if your rate is “Pieces time 5”, then you would select “*”
In the next field enter in the amount that will be used to calculate your rate. Using our example if your rate is “Pieces times 5”, then you would enter in 5.
(Advanced - Optional). If you need a more advanced rate, then click on the dropdown below your newly created formula.
Then select if you going to add + or subject - from your rate
Another cpy of the formula generator will appear. Repeat stems 16 to 19 above.
Click the “Save” button when done.
If you need to add more to your rate, then click on the +
This will allow you to repeat the above steps to add more to your rate.

Add, Remove, Copy and Clear a Lane
The add, remove, copy and/or clear a lane, locate this section directly below your rate matrix:
To add a lane, do the following:
Click on the Plus Symbol
This will create a new lane
To remove a lane, do the following:
Select the lane you wish to remove from the dropdown
Then click “Remove Lane”
The selected lane would be removed.
To create a new lane by coping an existing lane, do the following:
Select the lane you wish to copy from the dropdown
Then click “Copy Lane”
A new lane will be created.
Testing your Lane Rates
There are two ways to test your lane rates.
The first way is to test your lane rate as you create it. To do this:
In the “Edit Formula” pop up you used to create the lane rate.
You will see the testing section located across the bottom of the pop up.
Enter in a number into either the Pieces, Weight or Mileage Field
Then click the “Test” button
The “Results” of your test will appear
Another way to test your lane rates is to test across all your zones. To do this:
Click on the “Test” Tab
Across the bottom of this page is the “Test these lanes” Section.
Fill in the Pieces, Weight and Mileage fields as needed.
Then click the “test” button.
The system will then test all your lanes by zones. Depending all how many zones or lanes you have this could take a few minutes.
