Trip Entry's Default Addresses, Pieces, Weight, Service Level, Package Type and/or Times Changing

Problem

Fields in IDS's Trip Entry Screen are:

  1. Defaulting incorrectly or unexpectedly.
  2. The Pick Up or Delivery Address(es) keeps changing to a different default.
  3. The Weight Field defaults to something other than 1.
  4. The Pieces Field defaults to something other than 1.
  5. The Service Level and / or Package Type dropdown is not defaulting to the top selection.
  6. The Ready By or Due By time is not defaulting to the current time.

Solution

Beside the following fields you will see a tick box:

  1. Company Field in the PickUp Section.
  2. Company Field in the Delivery Section.
  3. Pieces
  4. Weight/Volume
  5. Package Type
  6. Service Level
  7. Ready Time
  8. Due By

If you hover your mouse over any of these tick boxes you will see:

By ticking any of these boxes, then clicking "Update Trip", you are telling IDS that you want whatever information stored in these fields to now be the default.

By ticking the following boxes:

  1. Company Field in the PickUp Section.
  2. Company Field in the Delivery Section.

You are setting the "Account"'s default Pickup and or Delivery Address for all users. That means from that point forward, all staff members at your company who make a new shipment for that "Account" will now default to that Pickup and or Delivery Address. 

Like Wise, if you are seeing the default Pickup and or Delivery Address constantly changing, someone in your office is ticking those boxes without the knowledge of what they do.

By ticking the following boxes:

  1. Pieces
  2. Weight/Volume
  3. Package Type
  4. Service Level
  5. Ready Time
  6. Due By

You are changing the default for just your username and no one else.

Solution for Company Field in the PickUp and / or Delivery Section Defaults


  1. Make a dummy shipment for the effected account, with the correct default PickUp and / or Delivery Addresses.
  2. Make sure the tick boxes for point one above, beside the company name field, are ticked.
  3. Once you have saved the trip, delete it.
  4. Pass this information onto all your staff so they understand the tick box

When used right, the "set as default" tick box is very useful. However, if you find that its consistently being misused and want us to turn it off, please contact support to let us know to turn it off for your company.

Solution for Pieces, Weight/Volume, Package Type, Service Level, Ready Time and Due By Time


  1. In IDS, on the PC that is having the issue.
  2. logged in as the user that is having the issue
  3. Go to the help dropdown in IDS
  4. select "Reset Field Defaults"
  5. IDS well then log out.
  6. Log back in
  7. Defaults have now been cleared.

  2. In the support ticket, provide us example shipment ID (full IDS Trip ID number starting with the letter) and the username who is having the issue.
