This article describes how to manage IDS 2 Shipping Portal Icons with the new June 2018 update.

Step-by-step guide


  1. Some users of the IDS 2 Shipping Portal may notice they have 2 IDS 2 Shipping Portal Icons (shortcuts) on their computer. They will look like this:

  2. You will need to delete the old icon, which is this one:
  3. To do this, right click the shortcut and select "delete".


Why is IDS doing this?

IDS 2 Shipping Portal was originally installing into a computer's ProgramFiles, ProgramFiles (x86) folders. 
This meant you could only install and update the IDS 2 Shipping Portal if you had Window's Admin Privileges.

We have now moved the default install location to a computer's AppData folder, which means under a normal Window's Set Up, you will no longer need Window's Admin Privileges to install or update the IDS 2 Shipping Portal.
Because of the above, for some clients who installed the IDS 2 Shipping Portal in 2017, they may now find they have 2 icons on their computer.

Future updates will remove the wording of "Keep this One" from the IDS 2 Shipping Portal Icon.
