Minimum Requirements for PC Clients

IDS is not responsible for the health of your hardware. It is highly recommended that you have IT Support for your Office computers, networks and servers. IDS will assist by reviewing IDS's logs and shipments details. IDS will not be held responsible for hardware issues.

Operating System Requirements

While IDS was designed to work on Windows XP and newer, Microsoft has dropped support of Windows 7 (Windows XP Issues), therefore the minimum requirement for IDS is Windows 9. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4057281/windows-7-support-ended-on-january-14-2020

We no longer provide support for IDS on iOS.

Security Software and Firewalls. Some security software and firewalls may interfere with IDS. As you add new security software and or firewalls, please ensure they dont interfere with IDS. IDS will not be held responsible for such software interfering with IDS.

Hardware

Since IDS's PC client has been operating for over 10 years, any modern hardware set up, for the average user, will work, as long as that computer is in good health. Older computers can become corrupted or wear out, this can cause issues that could effect IDS.

For dispatchers, if you have a power dispatcher running multiple instances of IDS and/or filtered dispatch screens, the minimum requirements are:

  1. a dedicated GPU. Not a GPU that is part of the CPU. Intel or AMD is good, Nvidia is not necessary.
  2. Base memory of 4 GB, then an additional 1 GB per instances of IDS running. For example if your dispatcher has 2 instances of IDS running then their computer would need a 4 GB base, plus 1 GB for each of the 2 instances, for a total of 6 GB.
  3. Duo Core Base will handle 1 instance of IDS. Then add an additional core per instances of IDS running. For example if your dispatcher has 3 instances of IDS running then their computer would need a Quad Core CPU.

Internet Connectivity

Streaming video or radio over the internet places a heavy load on your office internet connection. This will interfere with any internet based programs your office runs, including IDS.

Mobile Tethering. IDS can work on a PC that is tethered, however, this type of connection is inconsistent and problematic. While tethering is helpful in short term emergencies, IDS's Support Team cant make any changes to our client nor our servers that can overcome an inconsistent mobile tethered connection.

Satellite Internet. IDS can work on a PC that is connected to the internet via Satellite; however, this type of connection is inconsistent and does provide a lot of lag. IDS's Support Team cant make any changes to our client nor our servers that can overcome the lag created by a Satellite Internet Connection.

IDS's minimum requirement is a highspeed DSL or Cable Internet Connection. The amount of bandwidth depends on how many users you have in your office and what other internet based programs your office members operate. IDS does not use a lot of bandwidth, however, networks and internet connections that are throttled too high will have issues running IDS and any other internet based program.

A healthy internet connection that is not being overloaded is the responsibility of the user. IDS will not be held responsible for any issues caused by a internet connection that is having issues or is overload.
