In this article we will describe how create a service level.
If you wish to edit an existing Service Level, please read this article:

Please Note: Every client will have set up IDS or will need to set up IDS in their own unique way. There is no Industry Standards for service levels.

  1. Logged into IDS's PC Client as an Admin, locate the Wizard Dropdown in the top left hand side of the IDS PC Client.
  2. If you dont see "Wizard", then you are not logged in as an "admin"
  3. Select Rate Wizard
  4.  You will now see this screen press the next button.
  5. You will now be in the Service Level Screen, that may look like this:
  6.  Depending on your set up with IDS, you may not see the "Valid for selected packages (select none to ignore package)" This is a free no charge option that you can implement, if you would like to have this option turned on please email support@idsapp.com.
  7. To create your new Service Level, type in the new Service Level's name into the "Service Level" field
  8.  Ignore the "Del Hrs:" box.
  9. If you want this Service Level not to appear on IDS's Online Shipping Tools screen (This is where your customer go to a website and enter in a new shipment) after a certain time, then enter in that cut off time using the 24 hour clock into the "Cutoff Hrs (eg:1300 = 1pm)" field.

Do Note, this is only an option. You do not have to do this if you like your customers to enter in shipments at anytime of the day.
The time is based on your Time Zone, NOT the IDS Server Time.
  10. If you would like to add a color for this Service Level on the IDS PC Client's Dispatch Board (meaning all shipments of this Service Level on the IDS PC Client's Dispatch Board will have a set background color), then tick the box beside "Dispatch Color" AND click the circle beside the tickbox.
  11. This will open up a color palette.

Do Note, that when you first tick the box beside "Dispatch Color", the Circle will change to Red. That is just letting you know to click this circle, it will not set the color for this Service Level to Red.
  12. Select the color you wish to use for this Service Level, then press "OK"
  13. Do Note, you do not need to set a color for every Service Level, this is just an option.
  14. Now you can set a Valid Package type that can be used with this Service Level. This will mean when your client enters into IDS a shipment from your website using IDS's Shipping Tools, they will be limited on what package types can be used with which service level..
Do Note, depending on your set up with IDS, you may not see the "Valid for selected packages (select none to ignore package)." This is a free no charge option that you can implement, if you would like to have this option turned on please email support@idsapp.com.
Do Note, if you do use this option, then all Service Levels must have Valid Package types set, even if you have a Service Level that uses all package types (in that case you set every package type for that service level).
  15. From the "Select package for base rate" dropdown, select a package type, DO NOT select Child Package Types.
  16.  The press the Add button to the intimidate right of the "Select Cutoffs" field
  17.  Repeat steps 15 and 16 for every package type you wish include with this Service Level.
  18. If you make a mistake and add a package type that you dont want, then highlight that package type in the "Selected Cutoffs" field
  19.  Then click the Del button to the immediate right of the  "Selected Cutoffs" field
  20.  Now double check your work.
  21. If everything is good, press the Add button located to the left of the existing Service Levels
  22. Now press the "Update Services NOW" button.

Do Note, you can never press this button too often. However, if you forget to press this button, you have not saved your work, so press it.
  23. For this new Service Level to appear in IDS's Trip Entry Screen, you need to log out then back into IDS's PC client.

Now we have to think about how this new Service Level will appear on the Trip Entry Screen in IDS's PC Client. Without doing anything further, our new Service Level will appear on the bottom of the Service Level dropdown in the Trip Entry Screen.

To make IDS's Trip Entry Screen efficient for your Call Takers, we want to the most used Service Level at the the top of this dropdown and the least used at the bottom of the dropdown. By doing this, we will save your Call Takers a significant amount of key strokes and time.

To manage the order of the Service Level dropdown and our new Service Level, we need to do the following.

  6. You will see a list of your Service Levels, including the new one you created, in the large field
