In this article we will describe how to create a new Service Level.
If you wish to edit an existing Service Level, please read this article: How to Edit a Service Level

Note: Every IDS client will have set up IDS or will need to set up IDS in their own unique way. There is no Industry Standards for Service Levels, so please be aware that you will have different Service Levels.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Logged into IDS's PC Client as an Admin, locate the Wizard drop down in the top left hand side of the IDS PC Client.

  2. If you don't see "Wizard", then you are not logged in as an "admin."

  3. Select the "Rate Wizard."

  4.  You will now see this screen, press the next button.

  5. You will now be in the Service Level Screen, it will look like this:

  6.  Depending on your set up with IDS, you may not see the "Valid for selected packages (select none to ignore package)." This is a free no charge option that you can implement, if you would like to have this option turned on please email support@idsapp.com.

  7. To create your new Service Level, type in the new Service Level's name into the "Service Level" field.
  8. Ignore the "Del Hrs:" field.

  9. If you want this Service Level not to appear on IDS's online "Ship Now" screen (This is where your customers go online to enter in a new shipment) after a certain time, then enter in that cut off time using the 24 hour clock into the "Cutoff Hrs (eg:1300 = 1pm)" field.

Note: This is only an option. The cut off time should not be entered if customers are allowed to enter shipments at anytime of the day.
The time is based on your Time Zone, NOT the IDS Server Time Zone.

  10. To add a color for this Service Level on the IDS PC Client's Dispatch Board (meaning all shipments of this Service Level on the IDS PC Client's Dispatch Board will have a background color), tick the box beside "Dispatch Color" AND click the circle beside the tick box.
Note: When the box beside "Dispatch Color" is first ticked, the circle will change to red. Clicking the circle will open the color palette to select a color shown on the  "Dispatch Board"..

  11. This will open up a color palette.

  12. Select the color you wish to use for this Service Level, then press "OK."

  13. Note: Setting colors for service levels is just an option.  Do not tick the color selection box if a color is not needed for the service level.

  14. Package Types can be linked to a Service Level. When customers enter an order using the "Ship Now" screen, only Package Types associated with the selected Service Level will be available.
Note: The "Valid for selected packages" is an option. Contact support at support@idsapp.com if this option is needed and is not visible.  This is a free option that can be implemented by contacting support at support@idsapp.com.
Note: When this option is set all Service Levels must have linked Package Types.

  15. From the "Select package for base rate" drop down, select a package type. DO NOT select Child Package Types.

  16.  Then press the Add button located to the intimidate right of the "Select Cutoffs" field
  17. Repeat steps 15 and 16 for every package type you wish include with this Service Level.
  18. If you make a mistake and add a package type that you dont want, then highlight that package type in the "Selected Cutoffs" field.
  19.  Then click the Del button to the immediate right of the  "Selected Cutoffs" field.
  20. When done, double check your work.
  21. If everything is good, press the Add button located to the left of the existing Service Levels
  22. Now press the "Update Services NOW" button located on the top right hand side of the pop up.

Do Note, you can never press this button too often. However, if you forget to press this button, you have not saved your work, so press it.
  23. For this new Service Level to appear in IDS's Trip Entry Screen, you need to restart IDS's PC client.

Now we have to think about how this new Service Level will appear on the Trip Entry Screen in IDS's PC Client. Without doing anything further, our new Service Level will appear on the bottom of the Service Level dropdown in the Trip Entry Screen.

To make IDS's Trip Entry Screen efficient for your Call Takers, we want the most used Service Level at the the top of this dropdown and the least used at the bottom of the dropdown. By doing this, we will save your Call Takers a significant amount of key strokes and time.

To manage the order of the Service Level dropdown and our new Service Level, we need to do the following:

  1. Logged into IDS's PC Client as an Admin, locate the Wizard Dropdown in the top left hand side of the IDS PC Client.

  2. If you dont see "Wizard", then you are not logged in as an "admin"
  3. Select Rate Wizard

  4.  You will now see this screen press the next button.
  5. You will now be in the Service Level Screen:
  6. You will see a list of your Service Levels, including the new one you created, in the large field located on the bottom of this pop up. Highlight the service level you wish to move.
  7.  Then use the up and down buttons to move the service up or down in the list. Remember, this is the same order of service levels as found in the Service Level dropdown in the Trip Entry Screen. What you do here, will change the Service Level Dropdown in the Trip Entry Screen.

  8. Now press the "Update Services NOW" button located on the top right hand side of the pop up.

Do Note, you can never press this button too often. However, if you forget to press this button, you have not saved your work, so press it.

  9. Restart IDS.

  10. Now when go to the Trip Entry you will see that the Service Level Dropdown order has been changed to reflect your work from above.
